Grid Execution Management for Legacy Code Applications

A Globus Incubator Project

What is GEMLCA?

GEMLCA is a general solution in order to deploy existing legacy code applications written in any programming language as a Grid service

  • without modifying or even requiring access to the legacy code (source or binary)
  • without any real user effort.

What are the GEMLCA objectives?

  • Deploy legacy code applications as Grid services without any reengineering
  • Create complex Grid workflows where components are legacy applications
  • Make these functions available from a Grid Portal

In order to achieve these objectives the core GEMLCA architecture has been integrated with the P-GRADE portal and workflow solutions.

Why is GEMLCA a unique solution?

Because it is:

  • Language independent
  • No access to source code is required
  • Legacy code can be deployed as a Grid service with minimal user intervention
  • Integrated with portal and workflow solutions

Who are developing GEMLCA?

  • GEMLCA was developed by the research team of Centre for Parallel Computing at the University of Westminster within the UK e-Science OGSA TestBed project.
  • The GEMLCA P-GRADE Portal integration was done in collaboration between SZTAKI and UoW.
