| Job Description |
The IT and Media Center (ITMC) is the IT service provider for the TU Dortmund University, Germany. ITMC facilitates research and teaching within the University by means of offering a modern and efficient IT infrastructure, alongside a complete set of IT services to the academic community. ITMC is responsible for the overall operation of the university’s IT services, as well as electronic media and security services. Additionally, ITMC is responsible for the preparation and procurement of all major IT projects within the university.
Within ITMC, a group of scientists conducts research in the area of distributed systems as part of German and European projects, focussing mainly on the topics Grid Computing, resource management and e-Business.
The group currently develops together with 11 European partners the concepts, models and components for the processing of electronic contracts in service-oriented e-Business environments. The group’s main focus is the transfer of forward-looking research into implementations and their integration into service-oriented infrastructures.
In the context of this project, the ITMC is looking for a Scientist in the area of Applied Distributed Systems, Grids and Service-Oriented Architectures.
The project will give you practical insight into collaboration between commercial and academic institutions within an enterprise environment and at the same time you will have the opportunity to gain experience on state-of-the-art development tools and technologies.
The possibility of obtaining a PhD in the context of this position is given and supported by the ITMC.

| Qualifications |
Requirements for the position are:
• Diploma, masters or equivalent degree in Computer Science or equivalent subject;
• Very good to excellent knowledge of the Java programming language;
• Significant software engineering experience;
• Significant experience with distributed systems, SOAs and Web Services (XML, WSDL, SOAP, etc);
• Fluency in English. |
