| Job Description |
Context This position is a position at INRIA-Rhône-Alpes (Lyon) for a young engineer (Ingénieur Associé), as from October 1st, 2008 at the earliest. INRIA is the French national institute for research in computer science and control. 3600 people work in its 8 research centres. Young engineer positions are for freshly graduated students who don't want to pursue a research career and whose stay at INRIA for one or two years will constitute a first work experience as well as a complement to their studies. Ingénieur associé positions can never last more than 2 years. The engineer will join ALADDIN-G5K's technical staff, a team of around 10 engineers. ALADDIN-G5K's aim is to coordinate the contributions of INRIA to the infrastructure left by the Grid'5000 project. (www.grid5000.fr), 1696 compute nodes and 4790 processor cores interconnected across 9 sites through a dedicated 10Gb backbone. The objectives of the project is to build a scientific instrument for large scale parallel and distributed systems experiments. Description The engineer will work with ALADDIN-G5K's software development team, whose aim is to develop the software needed to prepare and run experiments as well as to provide the data needed to understand the results obtained. He will be in charge of the software responsible for configuration and supervision of the backbone network, under the responsibility of ALADDIN-G5K's CTO and with the help of an engineer specialised in monitoring aspects working with the RESO research team at the LIP laboratory of ENS LYON. He will design an open architecture for network monitoring capable of integrating values provided by network probes (classical as well as custom made hardware), put specialised hardware probes for 10Gb networks capable of software routing into production and write the software to manage these probes which will include an API for non-interactive use. He will also take part in all discussions related to the control of experimental conditions at the network level for Grid'5000. |
