| Job Description |
In the context of the national program “Compromisso com a Ciência”, funded by the Portuguese Government and implemented at FCT/UNL by the joint interdisciplinary action BIOINFO, the CITI centre is opening one post-doctoral position in the area of Grid Computing Models and Environments, and to exploit its relationships with BioInformatics.
Detailed information:
http://www.eracareers.pt/opportunities/index.aspx?task=global&jobId=8432
The job involves work on the design and analysis of methods, algorithms and software for Grid Computing, and their application to enable large-scale and complex simulations involving interactive visualisation and computational steering, with access to remote and massive data repositories, namely in BiioInformatics Grids. Fundamental dimensions of this research are focused on the development of distributed grid computing models, software environments and tools for complex problem-solving, and their application for large-scale and collaborative BioInformatics grids. |

| Qualifications |
There will be a strong preference for candidate with a post-doctorate experience of at least 3 years, with a PhD in Computer Science or in a related area, and particularly with relevant research experience in Grid Computing models, tools and environments, their operation and application, and a strong background in Cluster and Grid Computing, Parallel and Distributed Programming and Algorithms, and experience in global computing environments, network-centric systems, clusters and grids.
The successful candidate will be hosted by the CITI centre (http://citi.di.fct.unl.pt), integrated in the activities of the Parallel and Distributed Processing Systems Research Stream (PDPS), and in collaboration with other CITI groups, will conduct joint research in the context of interdisciplinary collaborations to exploit the relationships between Computer and Information Sciences and Life Sciences.
