Carnegie-Mellon University and the University of Coimbra
PhD Sholarships:
The Portuguese Government, on behalf of the protocol with CMU, offers scholarship for *outstanding* students that would like to take a Dual Phd Program in Computer Science between CMU and the University of Coimbra.
The student is expected to spend a first period of three to four
semesters at CSD/CMU.
In this period, the student shall take star courses and start working on research.
During the research phase they will split their time between Pittsburgh (USA) and Coimbra (Portugal).
Each student shall be co-advised by a CSD/CMU faculty member and a faculty member of the CISUC research center at the University of Coimbra (http://cisuc.dei.uc.pt).
The two co-advisors must contact each other and agree on a collaboration prior to the students application. Admission will depend on the existence of a co-advising arrangement which identifies possible research topics for the thesis.
Students must apply specifically to the dual degree program by
submitting the following material:
3 recommendation letters;
Curriculum vitae with transcripts of grades;
GRE scores;
TOEFL results;
Proof that the candidate has completed a undergraduate course or
preferably a MSc in the area
with outstanding grades.
Students will have to be accepted in both sides: CMU and Univ. Coimbra.
Acceptance rate is very small. This means that only students with an excellent curriculum will have the chance to get this opportunity.
The scholarships available will cover the tuition and expenses of
students in the program, regardless of their nationality.
Deadline for applications: 15th December 2007 |
